Power outage paralyzed 350 households in Favoriten

It suddenly went dark around Vienna's Laxenburger Straße on Monday evening. Supermarkets also struggled with the power outage, which affected around 350 households. All affected residential units have been reconnected to the power grid. 

Suddenly everything went dark: at exactly 18:34, the fault indicators at Wiener Netze indicated a system failure around Favoriten's Laxenburger Straße. While some media caused a lot of excitement about the power outage, Christian Call from Wiener Netzen can reassure Krone readers. There is no question of a blackout, the problem has been solved since 8.49 pm.

Traffic lights also failed
A total of 350 households were affected, including a school, which is closed during the vacations anyway, and a branch of the market office. The fact that traffic lights, air conditioning systems and supermarket checkouts also stopped working during the outage could not be prevented. 

Technicians are currently working at full speed
After just three quarters of an hour, 200 of the 350 households were reconnected to the power grid. Presumably an excavator had damaged a cable, and the increased power consumption at the end of the working day triggered a protective trip. The technicians were immediately deployed with flashing blue lights and rerouted the power. The damaged cable will also be replaced by tomorrow morning.
