Perpetrator robs Porsche, demolishes it on the run

Major police operation in Wels and Thalheim on Saturday evening: according to initial reports, a criminal dragged a driver out of a black Porsche and sped off in the car. The perpetrator crashed it into a lamp post in Thalheim and fled on foot. 

A previously unknown man is said to have ripped open the car door of a Porsche Cayenne in the center of Wels, brutally attacked the driver and pulled him out of the vehicle before fleeing in the luxury SUV.

Victim described the crime
Obviously shocked, the robbed driver described the savage attack in broad daylight: "The man then beat my head with his fists like crazy, dragged me out of the car and threw me on the ground. He then tried to kick my head with his feet," said the victim.

Speeding away in a Porsche
The car owner was nevertheless able to escape from the attacker. Although he apparently had considerable problems starting the expensive car, he managed to do so after a while and fled. Meanwhile, the victim and witnesses had alerted the emergency services, which is why a big chase across Wels began.

Robber fled on foot after crash
The mad dash finally came to an end at a traffic circle in Thalheim when the carjacker crashed the Porsche Cayenne first into a store front, then into another car and finally into a lamp post. The robber made off on foot, whereupon the police launched a manhunt including a police helicopter. Despite all efforts, the manhunt was unsuccessful for the time being.

Accident site closed
The traffic circle in question in Thalheim bei Wels was difficult to pass for around one and a half hours. The police diverted traffic past the scene of the accident.
