Several shots fired during the night: WEGA deployed

On Saturday night, the police and WEGA were alerted in Vienna-Floridsdorf after several shots were heard. Three suspects had previously vandalized newspaper cash registers.

At around 1 a.m., the alerted officers then became aware of three young men in Galvanigasse who had tried to flee after seeing the police. A 20-year-old was stopped in time. During the arrest, however, he resisted and punched an officer several times.

Warning shots fired
The blows were partially cushioned by the protective vest. A second suspect (19) fled in the direction of Hans-Smital-Park. As the officers assumed that he might have a firearm with him, three warning shots were fired into the ground.

Officers insulted
Shortly after fleeing, the 19-year-old returned to the officers and insulted them. When the police took the suspect's details, he attempted to injure an officer with a targeted elbow strike. He was arrested shortly afterwards. Another suspect is still on the run.

Investigations are ongoing
According to the police, the two arrested suspects and another unknown suspect had previously broken into several newspaper tills, snatched the cash and ripped a dustbin from its moorings. The two suspects are in police custody. Further investigations are underway.
