Gold heroine Vadlau reveals: Love break-up with Schuller

Lara Vadlau and Lea Schüller are out of love: after winning gold at the Olympic Games in France, Austria's sailing heroine reveals that the athletes are going their separate ways.

"She's no longer my partner," Vadlau says in an Ö3 interview one day after her sailing triumph. Schüller is in the match for third place with her German soccer teammates and can secure the bronze medal against Spain today (3 pm). "We're still good friends. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her," emphasizes Vadlau.

The pair caused a stir online with a "topless" snapshot just over three years ago. "We have beautiful bodies - why shouldn't we show them off? You can be a bit provocative," smiled Vadlau in the Krone interview at the time when asked about the hot pics.

Gold coup a "little fairytale"
 Together with Lukas Mähr, she has now put it in a nutshell in Paris. Neither of them had been spoiled by success in their previous Olympic campaigns. "It really is a little fairytale," Vadlau can hardly believe it. "It's better to sleep as an Olympic champion. We're glad that the pressure has been lifted. The days before were not so easy."

"It's amazing"
 Mähr is also overjoyed: "The first thing I did was look at my nightstand to see if the piece (editor's note: the medal) was still there anyway." Numerous well-wishers have already contacted the 470 duo. "It's amazing. I'm incredibly proud that so many people are behind us and have cheered us on. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply to everyone yet, my inbox is glowing," smiles Vadlau.
