After a traffic accident, three police emergency vehicles with flashing blue lights were parked on the road between Launsdorf and Brückl - but a driver who joined them was unconcerned. He drove past the emergency vehicles: with his cell phone to his ear, without wearing his seatbelt - and drunk.

A 23-year-old man was driving his car from Launsdorf towards Brückl on Sunday afternoon. A 21-year-old woman, also from the district of St. Veit, was also in the car. When the 23-year-old wanted to turn left into a lay-by to make a U-turn, he was overtaken by a motorcycle driven by a 61-year-old man from the district of Klagenfurt.

This resulted in a collision between the two vehicles, whereby the motorcyclist was injured and had to be taken to Klagenfurt Hospital by the ambulance after first aid. The occupants of the car remained uninjured.

In the course of traffic control during the accident investigation, three patrol cars were at the scene of the accident with their blue lights switched on. A driver obviously overlooked this: he drove past the police - talking on the phone without a hands-free set and not wearing a seatbelt.
The check revealed that the driver was slightly intoxicated.
He will be reported to the St. Veit district authority.
