Bebe Rexha experienced “hate crime” at the airport

US singer Bebe Rexha (34, "I'm Good (Blue)") tearfully addressed her fans in an Instagram story and made serious accusations against a Lufthansa employee who, according to her, had "mentally abused" her. The airline denied the allegations.

In an emotional Instagram story, which has since been deleted, the 34-year-old explained that the supervisor of the Lufthansa flight had threatened her. That's what happened: On Sunday, Rexha was allegedly prevented from boarding a plane in Munich: "I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian."

As Bebe Rexha - her parents are from North Macedonia - reports, she asked the employee in Albanian where she could get her ticket. Instead of support, she was refused. She mentioned "mental abuse" and "hate crime" to twelve million Instagram followers.

Rexha was unable to board her flight. Not true, according to Lufthansa: "She boarded her flight normally and on time."

Discrimination not tolerated
Lufthansa has announced a swift investigation into the incident and emphasized that discrimination will not be tolerated. A spokesperson for the company explained: "We have contacted Bebe Rexha and are in direct contact with her to clarify the situation." 

Hate crime

Hate crime refers to crimes in which people are attacked because of their nationality, skin color, disability, religion, sexual orientation, social status or physical appearance.

The singer later came forward again from the USA and said she was emotionally drained, according to Der Spiegel. She called for a thorough investigation into the incident - an apology was not enough.
