Son hit tree with car: mother died in the back

An accident drama unfolded on Wednesday afternoon in Waizenkirchen. A young man crashed his small car into a tree with his girlfriend, little sister (4) and mother on board. The mother (44), who was sitting in the back and not wearing a seatbelt, did not survive the collision.

At 2.55 p.m., a 25-year-old Afghan asylum seeker from St. Agatha was driving his car on the Michaelnbach-Stauff Landesstraße coming from Waizenkirchen in the direction of Michaelnbach. The driver's girlfriend, a 24-year-old Afghan woman in the front passenger seat, as well as the driver's four-year-old sister and 44-year-old mother in the back seat were still in the vehicle.

The 25-year-old's car suddenly veered off the road to the right and crashed head-on into a tree. The vehicle was subsequently thrown back onto the road. The passenger and the toddler were seriously injured in the accident and were taken to Wels Hospital by ambulance and rescue helicopter.

Mother was not wearing a seatbelt
Unfortunately, all help came too late for the mother of the driver involved in the accident. She died at the scene of the accident. The deceased was probably not wearing a seatbelt while driving.

Driver was only slightly injured
The driver was slightly injured in the accident and taken to Wels Hospital. An alcohol test carried out on the spot was negative. The Red Cross crisis intervention team looked after the relatives at the scene of the accident. The L525 country road was closed in this area for around two hours.
