Daniela Büchner: Shocking confession in the jungle

Shocking confession from Daniela Büchner in the "Legends" jungle camp. The reality TV actress opened up at the campfire about domestic violence and self-harm.

First, Daniela Büchner recalled the last few minutes with her Jens, who lost his battle with lung cancer in 2018. "Then I sat at his bedside and he fell asleep." She couldn't get over the loss for two years.

"I beat myself up"
During the vigil, the 46-year-old finally addressed another dark topic in her life. "I had really bad depression," she revealed to Sarah Knappik. "I hit myself. On my head."

"With your fist?" the ex-"GNTM" contestant asked, startled. Büchner nodded and continued: "I met someone I was with who beat me up. For many years. Insulted me, hit me, spat at me." 

She felt more and more despair and panic, eventually hurting herself, Büchner continued. "Then I started to scratch myself. To realize that I was still there at all."

Fighting for children
At the time, she was already a mother of three children. "I needed help for my children. No one helped me." On the contrary: doctors and therapists even threatened to place her children in foster families.

A wake-up call for Büchner, who fought her way back with therapy. "Under no circumstances did I want the children to go into foster care," she explained tearfully. "That really is incredible strength," said Knappik, who was both shocked and impressed.
