While there was still a lot of guesswork on Tuesday, on Wednesday the secret surrounding the vote against Babler's election program was revealed. Peter Binder (SPÖ), Third President of the Upper Austrian Parliament, spoke out against the program.

At 11 a.m. on Monday, an email from the red executive floor arrived on the computers and cell phones of the 58 members of the federal party executive. SPÖ leader Andreas Babler, who had come under political pressure, wanted to pass a circular resolution to bag his election program in time for his appearance at the ORF "summer talk" on Lake Traunsee.

This is how the decision went
Original: anyone who did not answer by 5 p.m. automatically gave their sanctus. In addition, Babler is said to have made extra calls to the usual suspects in Burgenland and Tyrol to solicit their approval. In any case, it was enough for an almost unanimous decision.

However, there was ultimately one dissenting vote. As he himself confirmed to the "Krone", it was Peter Binder, the third president of the Upper Austrian state parliament. He is considered a close confidant of the Linz city boss Klaus Luger, who stumbled over the "Brucknerhaus affair".

"I blocked everything inside me"
"I stand by it", says Binder in an interview with the "Krone". There are "many things" in the current election manifesto that he does not agree with. "When I read: 'Right to an analog life for farmers' - everything in me blocks," says the Linz native, giving an example. Because in Upper Austria in particular, a lot of money is currently being invested in a digitalization and broadband offensive "so that even the last farmhouse is connected".
