Borussia Dortmund only managed a 0-0 draw against Werder Bremen in the second round of the German Bundesliga. Meanwhile, Ralph Hasenhüttl and his "Wolves" were able to secure a 2:0 win against newly promoted Holstein Kiel. Stuttgart and Mainz played a wild game. The runners-up squandered a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 in the end. 

Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl and striker Patrick Wimmer celebrated VfL Wolfsburg's first win of the season in the German Bundesliga. The Wolfsburg team deservedly won 2:0 (2:0) at newly promoted Holstein Kiel on Saturday. Maximilian Arnold (27) and Sebastiaan Bornauw (30) spoiled Kiel's Bundesliga home debut. Kevin Stöger won 2:0 (0:0) with Borussia Mönchengladbach at his former club VfL Bochum.

Wolfsburg celebrate victory against Kiel

Gladbach finally had reason to celebrate again after a season-long run of seven games without a win. Tim Kleindienst on his 29th birthday (61) and Franck Honorat after an ideal Kleindienst pass (78) scored Borussia's winner. Stöger played through against VfL, from whom he had transferred in the summer. Bochum suffered their third defeat in three competitive matches and, like Kiel and second-placed St. Pauli, are without points after two rounds.

Dortmund fail to score a goal
Borussia Dortmund drew 0-0 with Marcel Sabitzer at Werder Bremen and remain on four points. Brave Bremen players Marco Friedl and Romano Schmid put BVB under a lot of pressure at the Weser Stadium. This revealed that the Champions League finalists still have a lot of work to do following their total rebuild in the summer. The major upheaval even continued in Bremen. Striker Sébastien Haller had traveled with the team the day before, but was loaned out to Spanish club CD Leganés as the twelfth player to leave. "That's the brutality of the business," said BVB coach Nuri Sahin on Sky. "He gets on the bus with us to Bremen and then later that evening he's gone."

Despite taking an early 2-0 lead and a late free-kick goal, runners-up VfB Stuttgart missed out on their first win of the season. In a turbulent match against 1. FSV Mainz 05, the Champions League contenders could not get past 3:3 (2:1) and thus only have one point. Enzo Millot (8') and Jamie Leweling (15') gave Stuttgart a 2-0 lead. Nadiem Amiri scored a penalty (43) and Jonathan Burkardt (62) tied the scores. In the 88th minute, Stuttgart's Fabian Rieder struck the bar with a free-kick and the ball bounced off the back of goalkeeper Robin Zentner and into the goal. In stoppage time, however, Maxim Leitsch secured FSV's second point of the season with Philipp Mwene playing through.

Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, recorded their first win after a strong performance against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with a 3:1 (2:0) victory. The goals for Frankfurt were scored by Hugo Ekitiké (24'), Hugo Larsson (33') and the outstanding Omar Marmoush (56'). Andrej Kramaric (54) scored for Hoffenheim. TSG were missing Florian Grillitsch through injury, while Alexander Prass was in action until the 73rd minute.
