At the age of 41, that's when ... Cristiano Ronaldo will start counting again. By then, the Portuguese wonder striker wants to have scored 1,000 goals, breaking the magic mark set by legend Pele. 

Ronaldo wants to equal Pele's total of 1,000 club and national team goals in his career. "For me, the best result in soccer is to score 900 goals first. After that, my challenge is to score 1,000 goals," said the 39-year-old Portuguese in an interview with his former Manchester United colleague Rio Ferdinand published on his YouTube channel. He currently has 893 goals in his statistics.

"Score 60 goals per season"
He wants to try to achieve this at the age of 41, he announced. "I score 60 goals a season," emphasized Ronaldo, who will celebrate his 40th birthday on 5 February 2026. "If I don't have any injuries," added the professional from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr FC, tapping on a wooden table. The end of his career is not in sight for the five-time world footballer. "I still feel good. I can dribble, still shoot, score goals, jump."

His contract with Al-Nassr runs until June 30, 2025. Pele, who died in December 2022, is said to have scored 1,281 goals during his career. However, the exact figure is disputed by some due to a lack of evidence. "All the goals I scored are on video," Ronaldo emphasized.
