Klagenfurt Airport: 250,000 passengers this year?

Despite initial difficulties due to the pandemic in the first quarter, Klagenfurt Airport was able to handle a total of 82,562 passengers by the end of the year.

Challenges such as a shortage of resources and staff caused problems for airlines throughout Europe during the summer months, which also led to significant flight cancellations. Klagenfurt Airport also felt the effects of this - despite this, the turnaround was achieved and the airport is now on course for growth after the pandemic years.

More than 250,000 people are expected in 2023
"Ryanair has made a significant contribution to the positive development at Klagenfurt Airport with attractive new scheduled flights from November 2022. The comeback of Eurowings and the hub connection by Austrian Airlines are providing a lasting boost to passenger numbers. With LILIAIR, a new home carrier will take off to the important Frankfurt hub as well as to Munich and Hamburg in 2023, and Austrian Airlines and Eurowings will increase their frequencies," summarizes Airport Klagenfurt Managing Director Nils Witt.

"The intensive joint efforts during the pandemic years mean that we can look to the new year with confidence together with the airlines. We expect more than 250,000 passengers in 2023."

New connection from Klagenfurt to the world
With the start of the summer flight schedule, it will be possible to travel with Ryanair to sunny Palma de Mallorca up to three times a week. Ryanair will take off twice a week to Alicante in Spain, which means that London Stansted will be served all year round from now on due to its good capacity utilization. In the May to September 2023 charter, Springer Reisen will take sun-seekers to the Greek vacation islands of Skiathos and Paros on Fridays and Saturdays.

LILIAIR will also start in Klagenfurt in 2023 
From April 2023, the airline LILIAIR will contribute to a further positive development at Klagenfurt Airport. From this date, the new home carrier will connect Klagenfurt daily with the Frankfurt hub in attractive daily connections, as well as three times a week with Hamburg and Munich. Frankfurt and Munich offer optimal connections to intercontinental and European traffic, which will benefit both business travelers and Carinthian tourists.
