Man injured by chainsaw: son on the scene

A 48-year-old farmer had a stroke of luck today while working in the forest. He seriously injured his leg while handling his chainsaw. Help arrived quickly.

A 48-year-old farmer from the district of Spittal an der Drau was working with his chainsaw in a forest plot in Schwarzwald (Radenthein) at midday today. While limbing a felled tree, he suffered a serious cut to his right leg for reasons that are still unclear.

Im Einsatz standen die Feuerwehren Kaming und Radenthein mit vier Fahrzeugen, Polizei und Bergrettung Nockberge, sowie das Rote Kreuz.

His 24-year-old son, who was also present at the time, administered first aid to the man together with the 16-year-old neighbor boy. The 48-year-old was flown to Klagenfurt Hospital in the RK1 rescue helicopter. After first aid, the Kaning and Radenthein fire departments assisted the rescue teams in transporting the patient out of the rough terrain.
