Klaus “Serratus” Drescher wins in Italy

Klaus Drescher took class and overall victory in Montecatini on Saturday and can now also call himself world champion.

He won everything again this Saturday. As reported, Klaus Drescher (35) from Lavanttal competed in the World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships in Montecatini (IT). He secured the class and overall victory. But he is one step ahead of his idol Arnold Schwarzenegger. 

"I competed in the Nabba (National Amateur Bodybuilding Association) World Championships for the first time on Saturday and won the class and overall title straight away! So I'm better than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who only came second in his first Nabba World Championships. So I'm one step ahead of him and therefore better than Arnold," smiles Drescher. "The only difference is that I'm 35 and he was 19 at the time. Nevertheless, it's a fact and therefore Austrian history!"

Injured before qualifying for the World Championships
Just two days before the qualification in Aschbach an der Donau - as we reported - Drescher tore his back so badly during the night shift that he didn't know whether he would be able to compete on June 3, as he was almost unable to move. "I had three physiotherapy sessions on each of the three days - with electricity, ultrasound, massages and mobility training. I received injections for the pain from my GP. I then went to Aschbach for the qualifiers lying down," added Drescher about the qualifiers on June 3.

Back in top form at the World Championships
"I was at my best on Saturday at the Nabba World Championships of the oldest bodybuilding association in the world, which was first held in 1947," Drescher proudly tells the "Krone". On July 15, Drescher will compete at the Mister Universe in Mexico. We are excited!
