Primary school pupil attacked classmates with a knife

A bloody start to school in the Czech Republic: On the second day of school in the new year, a primary school pupil in the town of Domazlice attacked and injured two classmates with a knife.

The child was arrested "within a few minutes" after the incident, the police said on Tuesday in the online service X. According to the tabloid newspaper "Blesk", the perpetrator is 13 years old. She stabbed a boy in the stomach and a girl in the back. According to the authorities, however, the two children were not seriously injured. The police stated that the two children's lives were not in danger and that there was no further danger to the school.

Another child is in shock
Regional Governor Rudolf Spotak later said that the victims of the attack had already been discharged home. In addition to the two injured, another child was being treated for shock. Local police chief Petr Machacek said that the motive for the attack was not yet known.

The crime occurred on the second day of school after the summer vacation shortly before the start of lessons at a primary and secondary school in Domazlice, Deputy Mayor Viktor Krutina told journalists. "Thanks to the quick reaction of a teacher and the principal, there were no further attacks elsewhere in the building," he added.

The school explained on the online network Facebook that lessons for the older pupils had been canceled "due to an extraordinary incident". The younger pupils, however, remained at school. The town of Domazlice is located around 130 kilometers southwest of the capital Prague.
