It’s going meatless for celebrities in the “Summer House”

Salad instead of ham, pulses instead of rump steaks: the candidates on the reality show "Sommerhaus der Stars" are going meatless this year. On its website, RTL spoke of a "culinary innovation" that had been made for the new season. 

Instead of meat and sausage products, the celebrity contestants will only eat plant-based food. The succinct explanation: "'Das Sommerhaus der Stars' is always good for a surprise."

"I love steak"
It should be clear that such a rule change is not only met with approval. Dietary issues are one of the classic bone of contention in reality shows. Vegetarian or not, a lot or a little, healthy or unhealthy - a spiral of escalation has already been set in motion.

Actor Raul Richter, who is taking part, has already been quoted by RTL as saying: "I love steak! And I'm a self-determined, free person, that's how I was brought up and that's how I want to live. I also need meat and I don't want to be patronized when it comes to my food".

Celebrity couples move in
The "Summer House of Stars" is one of RTL's best-known reality formats. In the show, which will be broadcast from September 17, more or less celebrities and their partners move into a kind of large shared flat.

There they have to get along with the other couples and master games together. This year, for example, designer Sarah Kern and her partner Tobias Pankow are also taking part.
