One game separates SKN women from the top flight

Soccer champions St. Pölten are now just one match away from a third consecutive appearance in the Women's Champions League. The Lower Austrians defeated Albanian champions Vllaznia 1-0 in the mini-tournament in Kutaisi (Georgia) on Saturday.

Kamila Dubcova (18) scored the golden goal. The opponents, who were represented in the "premier class" two years ago, played with ten players after a red card (80th) in the final. Austria's serial champions had previously started the qualifying phase "Meisterweg" with a commanding 5:0 against Neftci Baku and once again had everything under control. The Wolves only conceded one shot on goal in the entire match and had seven attempts on goal themselves. Four shots on goal were recorded in the statistics.

One more duel
To advance to the main competition, a knockout duel with a first and second leg must be mastered on September 18/19 and 25/26. The draw for this will take place on Monday in Nyon.

Runners-up Vienna, on the other hand, were beaten 8-0 (0-3) by Swedish hosts Linköpings FC in an insignificant placement match after an early yellow card for Viktoria Hahn (21). In the first round of the league campaign, the Viennese team also had no chance in their 9-0 defeat against Paris FC. They were missing several regular players who are currently at the U20 World Cup in Colombia.

Manuela Zinsberger and the unused Laura Wienroither also made it through to the second qualifying round with Arsenal thanks to a 1-0 win over Rosenborg Trondheim in Borehamwood, as did Marina Georgieva, who was also able to celebrate a 1-0 win over Ajax Amsterdam in a Fiorentina shirt in Brøndby.
