Nokia 2720 Flip: new edition of a cell phone classic

After the Nokia 3310 and the Nokia 8110, HMD Global is launching another new edition of a classic cell phone from the 1990s with the Nokia 2720 Flip. In addition to the usual low price, the retro cell phone should score points with the usual long-lasting battery.

The flip phone comes with two displays: a 1.3-inch front display with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels, on which notifications and callers are displayed, and the 2.8-inch QVGA display, on which pre-installed apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps and, of course, the classic game "Snake" can be displayed. However, touch functionality is not available. As with the other retro reissues, navigation is via the keyboard.

Underneath, Qualcomm's 205-series chipset and 512 megabytes of RAM provide the necessary power. The internal memory is four gigabytes, of which, according to the footnote, a "considerable part" is already occupied. Thankfully, however, the Nokia supports microSD cards of up to 32 gigabytes. KaiOS is again used as the operating system. 

Other features of the 118 gram phone include a 2-megapixel camera with flash on the back, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, GPS, LTE, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and LTE. Google's Assistant is also integrated, which can be called up using a dedicated button and thus enables the device to be controlled by voice, as well as an SOS button, which can be used to send a message to five selected contacts with details of the location.

The manufacturer states that the removable battery has a capacity of 1500 mAh and a standby time of 28 days. The Nokia 2720 Flip is now available in black, gray and red at a price of 99 euros (RRP).
