• After days of storms, large parts of Austria are drowning in floods. Thousands of firefighters, soldiers and police officers are working to the point of exhaustion.

• The most dramatic situation is currently in Lower Austria - the entire province has been declared a disaster area!
• In Lower Austria, a legendary firefighter (75) was the first person to die in a flood operation. The 75-year-old was pumping out water in Tulln when he fell on the stairs.
• In Vienna, too, professional rescuers used boats instead of cars to evacuate houses and save lives. Public life practically came to a standstill.

• The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) have extended their travel warning, which has been in place since Friday, until Thursday evening.

• A Black Hawk S-70 of the Austrian Armed Forces was deployed on the B19 near Markersdorf (Lower Austria). Two people were rescued from the floods. During another Black Hawk operation in Pottenbrunn, more people, including small children, are said to have been rescued.

• Around 25,000 households in Styria were also without power on Sunday. Fire departments were in continuous operation across the entire country. Some areas could not be reached by car.
