Ferlach tourism flourishes with these projects

New hotel and year-round ice rink attract more guests to the gunsmith town. Further plans for indoor swimming pool and co. are already being drawn up

The projects of investor Dmitriy Kalantyrskiy are bearing fruit in Ferlach. After the businessman opened a 220-bed hotel in addition to an ice rink, the number of overnight stays in the gunsmith town has already doubled. "We were able to increase from 30,000 overnight stays to 60,000," says a delighted Ferlach mayor Ingo Appé. And now Kalantyrskiy is already planning the next big coup.

Buying more land
As reported, an indoor swimming pool is also to be built on the new site. "But it's not completely on track yet," says the head of the municipality to the "Krone". The investor, who has already received land from the municipality for the project, would also like to purchase land from private owners. These negotiations have stalled somewhat.

But that doesn't mean the building project is history. "The project could also be realized on the municipal land," says Appé. "But more space would of course be better for the project."

New sports facility
While the tug-of-war over the land continues, the investor is even building a fun court next to the hotel. A dedicated basketball and handball court is being built there for 120,000 euros. "This can then also be used by the Ferlach youth."
