Smoke noticed

An additional stove burned in a hut after a hunt in Tyrol

Two locals in Tösens (Landeck district) had several guardian angels on Sunday night. They heard smoke in their hunting lodge and saw a fire hours later. Both ended up in hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

The two young men had set off to hunt in Tösens at around 5 pm. When they returned to the hut afterwards, they noticed the smell of smoke. They aired out the hut and went to sleep in the next room at around 11 pm.

Shortly after midnight, they were in for a shock: when they checked the kitchen, one of them noticed that there was a lot of smoke in the kitchen area. A smouldering fire had broken out behind the heat protection plate and a paneling. The two extinguished it with water.

Men ended up in hospital
The Tösens volunteer fire department was notified and checked the scene of the fire with a thermal imaging camera, but did not have to take any further action. Both men were taken to Zams district hospital by ambulance due to suspected smoke inhalation.
