Day 3: The fight against the floods continues

On Monday, the third consecutive day of flooding in Austria, the tireless battle against the floods continued. In Lower Austria in particular, the situation remains critical - four people are now dead. You can find all the information about the storm on Monday here in a large overview.

• A fourth fatality has already been reported in Lower Austria - a man was found floating dead in the water in Klosterneuburg. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner declared that the state was "still in crisis mode". After the weather calmed down overnight, it started to pour again during the day, sometimes heavily.

• According to honorary fire department commander Franz H. (75) on Sunday, the bodies of two pensioners were also found on Monday in Untergrafendorf and Höbersdorf. Drowned in their supposedly safe home.

• Although the situation in Vienna had eased somewhat, Mayor Michael Ludwig also warned of "a second wave". The level in the Wien River was probably a millennium event, according to Vienna's waterways. The city's parks were closed.
• Due to the rain, the situation in the flooded areas remains difficult, explained Chancellor Karl Nehammer. He appealed not to engage in disaster tourism so that operations are not hindered by onlookers.
• Also in Lower Austria the clean-up work was in full swing, there is "enormous damage". Eleven helicopters helped along with hundreds of emergency personnel.
• They are fighting against "many false reports", according to a statement from St. Pölten: "The drinking water supply in the city is guaranteed!"
• In Vienna , subway services are still restricted. People are asked to use streetcars, buses and other subway lines on a large scale. The end of the disruption is not foreseeable.

 The weather will continue to show its rainy side in the coming days. There will be widespread rain on Tuesday, especially in Vorarlberg, Tyrol and Salzburg, and it will also be rainy for a while in the Inn, Mühl and Waldviertel regions.
