Wild scenes on Thursday afternoon in the Schlierbach area (Upper Austria). As it turned out later, a drug driver had a chase with the police. After stopping his car at a road sign, he parked it in a driveway. But the escape was not over.

A 31-year-old man from Maria Neustift was driving his car on the L554 towards Schlierbach at around 3.30 p.m. on Thursday - a police patrol was driving behind him. Shortly before the Audorf area, the officers managed to stop the car and verbally signaled to the driver that he had to follow the officers to the next turn-off.

Speeding
The situation then escalated. The 31-year-old turned his vehicle around and drove off at excessive speed in the direction of Wartberg an der Krems. The officers immediately took up the pursuit. The man tried to escape by making a U-turn, but collided with a traffic sign in the process.

Escape on foot
However, this did not prevent the driver from parking his vehicle in the driveway of a neighboring property and fleeing on foot together with his passenger. The officers ran after the two and were able to bring the driver to the ground a short time later using physical force. The 31-year-old did not have a valid driver's license and showed clear signs of impairment. He refused to submit to a clinical examination and will be charged.
