Kulm flying in the Nordic Combined World Cup

Nordic combined is introducing World Cup competitions with ski flying. As announced by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) on Monday, a Ski Flying World Cup will be held for the first time in February 2026 in Kulm, Styria. 

"This is the next big step. I'm very excited about this event," said FIS Race Director Lasse Ottesen. The project had been planned for several years, explained the Norwegian.

Women jump on large hill
Meanwhile, the women will be competing on a large hill for the first time next season. The debut will take place in March at the World Cup in Oslo on the legendary Holmenkollen. "The development in the women's sector has been amazing in recent years," Ottesen was quoted as saying in a press release. With the support of the national associations in Norway and Austria, this step was possible for both men and women. The two premieres are intended to reflect the growing ambition and innovation within the sport.

"We are delighted that the FIS is allowing this. It really is a good next step for the Nordic Combined," said ÖSV Sports Director Mario Stecher and was delighted about another home World Cup. "We have a great opportunity to put the Kulm on display."
