Now it's time for the grand finale for the Red-Golden Grape.

Grand finale: 27 top wines in nine categories enchant 160 judges' palates. Today, Friday, from 3 p.m., it will be decided which wines taste best.

The wait is over. Today, the glamorous celebration of the red and gold grape takes place at the Csello - Cselley Mühle in Oslip. Whether white, red, rosé or sweet wines - Burgenland's winegrowers play in the top league worldwide.

Winemaker Franz Paul Jagschitz and his mother Dorothea from the Remushof winery in Oslip toasted the jury with a Chardonnay Steinnelke 2022, characterized on the palate by apricot and grapefruit with a mineral finish.

Chardonnay Ried Katterstein 2021 from Andi Kollwentz's winery in Großhöflein was described by the experts as finely structured, multi-layered and harmonious on the palate, with an immensely long finish. This is a pleasure.

The Bayer-Erbhof winery from Donnerskirchen, run by Josef and Michael, has made a highly regarded contribution to today's grand finale. For true connoisseurs, the Leithaberg DAC Weißburgunder Ried Kapellenjoch 2022 is among the top favorites.

160 experts on the jury
The high quality is reflected in the awarding of the Red-Golden Grape. With the "Krone" as a partner, the crème de la crème of viticulture is brought before the curtain. In the afternoon, a high-caliber jury of 160 renowned experts and prominent guests will determine who belongs to the illustrious circle of big winners during a blind tasting in nine categories.

An exquisite Leithaberg DAC Blaufränkisch Ried Ruster Oberer Wald 2021 will be presented by Kurt Feiler-Artinger's winery. The very special characteristics: ripe, strong tannins, grippy texture, mineral-salty, very long finish.

Juicy, with an elegant texture of ripe heart cherries, herbal spice, finely structured, mineral-salty finish - Blaufränkisch Hochberc 2020 from the Albert Gesellmann winery in Deutschkreutz speaks for itself.

The Blaufränkisch Reserve Ried Goldberg 2020 from Silvia Heinrich's winery in Deutschkreutz awakens all the senses. "A complex, juicy body, blackberries on the palate, taut, tightly woven tannins," is the verdict: "And a very long, fruity finish."

Wines from the single vineyard and rosé still
18 selected samples that made it to the final round and will be served to the judges as the grand finale have already been presented. Now it's the turn of the last nine finalists in the categories "White wine from a single vineyard 2022-2020", "Rosé still 2023" and "Red wine from a single vineyard 2022-2020".

An inviting bouquet whets the appetite for Rosalia DAC "Rosé The Origin" 2023, presented by Thomas Fischer, cellar master at his father Alfred's winery in Stöttera. Pure enjoyment is on the horizon - juicy, elegant, balanced, with a fruity finish.

According to the jury, the Rosé Reserve 2023 from Markus Lentsch's Seegut winery in Podersdorf promises great drinking pleasure. Fresh and fruity on the palate, a lively acidity structure and elegant fruit sweetness - that's what sets it apart.

Sparkling, fragrant and at the same time grippy and mineral, well-integrated residual sugar that interacts charmingly with the tannins of the Blaufränkisch grape and a finish with plenty of fruit - this is what the Blaufränkisch Rosé 2023 from Alexander Artner's Deutschkreutz winery offers.
