“Die kleine Drogerie” closes after eleven years

Kathrin Kierer opened her "Kleine Drogerie" eleven years ago. She is now retiring and looking for a successor for the business.

After eleven years of self-employment, the boss of the popular store and postal partner in Münichholz is retiring. Despite its great popularity, the successor to the "Kleine Drogerie" with its wide range of products has not yet been decided. However, owner Kathrin Kierer is hoping for a "happy ending". 

Small but mighty! That applies to "Die kleine Drogerie" (DKD) in Steyr. Kathrin Kierer opened it eleven years ago and is now retiring. Her big wish: that the drugstore in the Münichholz district remains open. "So much love and passion has gone into DKD. That's why it would be a great shame if the store had to close because I'm retiring."

Experiencing two bankruptcies
The Steyr native has fond memories of the early days: "I was deputy branch manager at Daily and Schlecker for 17 years. After both companies went bankrupt, I decided to take over the 130 square meter store myself and started my own business," says the drugstore manager.

The initial skepticism was quickly dispelled. The store in Rohrauerstraße - and therefore in a very good location - quickly became a popular port of call for customers looking for high-quality drugstore goods, natural cosmetics, health products and small but very fine gift ideas. The postal partner office in the store was also well received.

"The many parking spaces in front of the store are also a big plus," says Kierer. Another advantage is the rent of "only" around 500 euros per month. This helps to keep costs low. "If a successor is found, I would of course be very happy to provide them with advice and support," assures the future pensioner.
