Where you can get an apartment with your job
The job offer is great, but how am I supposed to pay the rent? Anyone looking for a job is often also desperately looking for an affordable apartment. Austrian companies and recruitment agencies have noticed this and are doing something about it. Krone+ shows which companies hand over the keys to an apartment with the job and what employers and employees need to bear in mind.
Staff shortages, hard-to-get skilled workers and extremely high rents are a bad mix for companies. Especially with lower salaries, it hardly pays off for employees to move to expensive Innsbruck, Salzburg or now Vienna.
In Germany, the Ministry of Finance subsidizes company housing in order to keep workers in cities such as Munich or Berlin. In Austria, such support tends to be linked to housing subsidies, which can only be claimed under certain conditions.
