E-biker (61) fell 40 meters over steep embankment

An e-bike tour on Saturday in Rettenschöss (Kufstein district) ended for a 61-year-old Polish man with a broken right arm. The man fell around 40 meters into a steep wooded area and remained lying there. Rescue by helicopter was not possible.

The 61-year-old was riding his e-bike downhill in the Rettenbachalm area at around 5 pm. At around 1045 meters above sea level, the man lost control of his bike in a left-hand bend and fell around 40 meters into a forest area with a gradient of up to 40 degrees towards a stream.

They were able to find him injured below the path and immediately set the rescue chain in motion.

As the emergency helicopter was unable to rescue him due to the fog, the injured man had to be rescued by the Kufstein mountain rescue team using a mountain stretcher. He was then taken by ambulance to the transfer point, from where he was finally flown to Kufstein District Hospital. He suffered a fracture to his right arm and abrasions to his face.
