Shaping the technology of the future with ÖBB

Austrian Federal Railways is not only one of Austria's largest employers, but also trains around 600 new apprentices every year. The technology of the future is being shaped here in 14 technical (basic) apprenticeships and seven specific railroad professions. 

The training of apprentices has long been a matter close to ÖBB's heart - the first boilermaker was trained in Knittelfeld, Styria, over 128 years ago in 1895. Since then, not only the type of training has changed, but also the number of apprentices. Since then, ÖBB has been able to establish itself as one of the largest training providers in Austria. This September alone, around 700 apprentices will start their training at ÖBB. 

Training for the technical elite 
Hardly any other company in Austria offers so many different apprenticeships with such high training quality. Among the technical apprenticeships, there are many sought-after future jobs such as application development, mechatronics or electrical and refrigeration technician. Following your three to four-year apprenticeship, you can complete the six-month railroad module to give your career a further boost. As someone who is to lead ÖBB into the future, you can expect not only top-level training, but also an attractive salary of up to 957 euros in the first year of your apprenticeship, which can increase to up to 1862 euros at the end of your apprenticeship. You can find more information HERE.

Apprenticeship with Matura, internships abroad and much more
2,100 apprentices are currently being trained across the Group. ÖBB has 9 of its own training workshops and 3 apprentice residences. In addition to these offers, ÖBB also has other cool benefits for the skilled workers of the future:
