Children on the prowl: experience a day as a hunter

For the primary school children from Eisentratten, the classroom was moved outside - into the wilderness. In the forest, the children were introduced to the topics of hunting, game and forest.

The hunters from Hegering Eisentratten and the Nöringer Jagdgesellschaft hunting association came up with something special for the local primary school pupils: "An adventure day was organized to teach children about hunting, game and the forest."

The 40 pupils were introduced to various species of trees and wild animals. The little ones also learned how to read the tracks of animals, and at various stations, the tools, technology and tasks of hunters were presented and it was explained why hunters are actually needed for the forest.

A day like this has a special value not only for the children, but also for the hunters themselves. "We want to pass on our knowledge to the youngsters," they say, delighted at the high level of interest. "What's more, a day like this not only offers insights into hunting culture, but also gives the children the opportunity to experience nature in an interactive and educational way."
