Tyrolean company sues motorcycle manufacturer KTM

The Tyrolean tech company Coober/Innalpin, based in Stans (Schwaz district), has filed a patent lawsuit against the motorcycle manufacturer KTM at the commercial court. The reason: An injection system patented by Coober in 2007 had been used by KTM.

Specifically, the case concerns a patented injection system for two-stroke engines, which was patented by Coober in 2007. This is intended to reduce harmful exhaust gases. KTM was accused of having used this system.

Accusation rejected
In total, more than 180,000 engines were involved in which this was the case. An attempted out-of-court settlement had previously failed. The motorcycle giant rejects the accusation of patent infringement. After all, the engines have an injection nozzle that is positioned differently to the patent.
