Stable in flames: Two people injured in Tyrol

Major fire department alert on Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Oberland: a fire broke out on a farm in Fronhausen in the municipality of Mieming (Imst district). Around 150 firefighters battled the huge flames. According to the police, three people were injured - including a child. Several cows died in agony.

At around 7.30 pm on Tuesday evening, the sirens went off in Mieming and the surrounding area. The approximately 100-year-old barn of a farm was on fire. "A witness who happened to be passing by on foot had noticed smoke rising from the farm building. The man immediately made an emergency call and the next thing he knew, the barn was on fire," said the police, describing the dramatic scenes.

Flames prevented from spreading
A large contingent of fire departments from the region rushed to the scene. It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the outbuilding. The firefighters battled the blaze for hours. It was finally brought under control and extinguished.

Sadly, three people are said to have been injured in the fire. These included residents of the farm - a woman and a child - as well as a 43-year-old neighbor. They were taken to hospital.

Twelve cattle were rescued from the barn by the emergency services. Unfortunately, however, all help came too late for four cows, which died.

The main road had to be closed
The farm building burned down completely, the adjacent residential building and the neighboring building were damaged by the heat. 

The cause of the fire is still unclear. Due to the fire, the B189 between Barwies and Nassereith had to be closed to all traffic in both directions until around 1 am.
