Delivery services are booming at weekends in Burgenland. The number of orders is increasing by leaps and bounds. Healthy food is very popular. Low-calorie veggie schnitzel is increasingly replacing greasy cordon bleu.

The delivery service records provide tasty insights into current food trends. Customers' preference for pizza and burgers remains unbroken. As usual, Italian cuisine leads the rankings, followed by American and Turkish dishes. However, the culinary spectrum is becoming more diverse.

Indian increasingly popular
Romanian, Portuguese and Mexican cuisine are experiencing the strongest growth in Austria. Pizza salami clearly tops the list of favorite Mediterranean dishes in Burgenland. Coca-Cola and French fries are preferred as extras. Pizza Provinciale is becoming increasingly popular. Indian specialties are on the rise, especially between Neusiedl and Jennersdorf.

The title of "Order Master of the Year" goes to Vienna. The customer placed 626 orders, including exactly 626 cans of Red Bull.

The most expensive order was placed with Pizzeria Caorle and cost a whopping 794 euros.

More orders at the weekend
People continue to enjoy home cooking. But at the weekend, Burgenlanders often prefer to put their own cooking spoon aside. "37 percent of orders are placed on Saturdays and Sundays", as the Lieferando Report 2024 shows. 1.4 million orders were evaluated for this.

It is striking that a third of Austrians try food and drink packages recommended by celebrities or influencers. Healthy ingredients are very popular. According to Lieferando, the trend is moving even more towards vegetarian meals. Veggie schnitzel, veggie käsekrainer and organic products are more in demand than ever. "46 percent of orders are vegetarian, 20 percent vegan," it says.
