Vienna: Local patrons threatened to kill security staff

Two Ukrainians harassed guests in a restaurant in Vienna's city center. After death threats against the bouncer and the manager, charges have now been filed. 

For many Viennese and tourists, the start of the working week is also the perfect time for a little party - and so on Tuesday night, six friends went out partying in the city center.

Wild hustle and bustle
In the society bar Kleinod "Prunkstück" in Bäckerstraße, however, the hustle and bustle of the Eastern European sextet became increasingly wild. The men mobbed other guests until a bouncer finally declared their party over.

By order of the public prosecutor's office, the two suspects were finally released.

However, two Ukrainians (40 and 31 years old) were unable to let the matter rest, resulting in loud tirades of abuse including angry death threats against the security guard and manager outside the pub. The restaurant owners reacted in the right way and calmly alerted the police: "Colleagues from the Brandstätte police station went to the scene and arrested the two suspects", explains police spokesman David Pawlik.

The rest of the group was reportedly no longer on site at the time.

In an interview with the "Krone" newspaper, a Kleinod boss sees no reason to get excited: "The police arrived really quickly. The party night went on as usual - just not for the party of six." The suspects were released.
