New working models
From home office to “workation”: job and balance
Working from home, flexible working hours, sabbaticals: the world of work is changing and has long since offered more than just the boring, monotonous work at a fixed workplace - day in and day out, for years on end, as younger generations still know it from their elders. The much-cited work-life balance can be important to employees today. The new job models even extend to "workation" - combining vacation and work. Sounds exciting? Then read on!
Get up, take a deep breath of sea air. Switch on your laptop, check your first emails and then relax and get to work - without the morning rush at home, without the traffic jams on the way to work, without annoying colleagues keeping you from your actual work, without having to drive home in heavy traffic and the subsequent overtime at home in the family hustle and bustle. A nice idea? Yes, "workation" has something to it. But home office and the like are also helpful for a better work-life balance and personal equilibrium.
"Workation" - derived from the English "work" for work and "vacation" for vacation -, mobile working, remote working, home office, teleworking: the topic of new working models is "booming", says employment law expert Jasmin Haindl from the Vienna Chamber of Labour, "and we have an increasing number of inquiries about it".
