Marlies saved her neighbor’s life in a kitchen fire

Everyone would like to have a neighbor like that: Marlies called the emergency services in Altmünster on Sunday because she noticed the smell of burning coming from the apartment next door. The 75-year-old then gave the emergency services the crucial tip for rescuing the sleeping resident.

Marlies (75) heard a smoke alarm in Altmünster at around 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and also noticed the smell of burning coming from the apartment next door. She immediately dialed the emergency number and set the rescue chain in motion.

The police officers who arrived immediately noticed smoke coming from the second floor and a tilted window. The 75-year-old came to the rescue a second time: she pointed out a pull-out ladder in the basement to the officers.

This enabled an officer to climb onto the balcony on the second floor and enter through the tilted door. Not a second too late, because the resident and his dog were asleep in an adjoining room. They were brought out of the apartment in time.

The fire department then ventilated the apartment. The heavy smoke was coming from the kitchen. No one was injured thanks to Maries' attentive intervention, which probably saved a life.
