Dive into the Karwendel through the Falzthurntal valley

The romantic Falzthurntal valley, which runs from Pertisau into the Karwendel, is always a winter wonderland.

There are two places to stop for refreshments at the end of this scenic and easy winter hike. So: let's get going!

There is almost no way up with this suggestion, so you only take the toboggan with you to pull the children through the Falzthurntal. In Pertisau am Achensee, follow the signs to the Karwendel valleys. At the large parking lot by the Karwendel Alpine Park information board, we then follow the winter hiking trail to the "Falzthurnalm".

The wide footpath leads into the idyllic forest without any noticeable incline. As the sun does not shine noticeably into the Falzthurntal valley until around midday in the height of winter, it is advisable to start the tour a little later in the morning.

After an hour's walk, you reach the rustic Falzthurn mountain hut.

The route runs almost straight as a die, repeatedly passing through clearings with views of the mountain range to the right of the valley. After around 45 minutes, the route leads out of the forest, with the striking Sonnjoch now coming into view in the foreground.

Only a few steps separate us from the buildings of the Falzthurnalm with the quaint Falzthurn alpine hut.

One or two hunting trophies serve as decoration in the rustic interior.

A stop-off with a long tradition
The mountain hut (Sennhütte) is around 200 years old. There is a lot inside to suggest that the host family probably had a hunter in their ranks . . .

Second refreshment stop
A few meters behind the Sennhütte, the Alpengasthaus Falzthurn offers a second refreshment stop. The very keen can extend the leisurely tour to the Gramaialm (plus 1 hour).
