“Hundreds of drivers have been sent back”

Car traffic to and from Tyrol is currently severely restricted. What do drivers currently have to bear in mind to get to Tyrol? What papers are required and what is the situation at the borders with Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia? Thomas Haider from the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Cyclist Association (ARBÖ) talks about this with Gerhard Koller in the krone.tv talk show "Nachgefragt".

You can't use the German corner at the moment without a good reason. "Especially not in the direction of Salzburg. In the other direction, towards Tyrol, it is possible without any restrictions," explains Haider. In principle, the only way out is via Salzburg. Vorarlberg is of course also affected by the exit controls: "Vorarlberg is more or less cut off on the direct road route."

According to Haider, these measures caused considerable confusion, especially at the beginning. "Hundreds of drivers were sent back. The situation should have calmed down somewhat by now."
