Musical show interludes and funny sketches

The politically-inclined Althofner dwarves make the audience laugh.

In its 32nd year, the Althofen carnival guild once again delivers a colorful program with a junior guard, show program and a touch of Otto Waalkes. 

"We're a cool troupe and want to take our audience out of their everyday lives in a good four hours," says President Carsten Passiel, describing this year's carnival sessions in Althofen. Passiel, who incidentally comes from the same town as Otto Waalkes, is also on stage himself. "The German plays a German, so I don't have to pretend," laughs the trained master audiologist. 

Tschentsche and Henriette provide the laughs
Around 40 performers take to the stage for four hours with a total of 14 numbers, belting out one punchline after another. Well-known stars such as Tschentsche and his Henriette or the politically-inclined Althofner dwarves shine in the Kulturhaus Althofen.

The president is particularly proud of his junior guard: "I'm delighted that young girls are interested in the guard march." The 15 girls involved are aged between eight and twelve. "We also have to pay attention to youth protection. The young dancers are allowed on stage until 9 p.m. - then our guard dances."

Nothing comes out of a can
The live experience is particularly important to the President: "Nothing comes out of a can for us. It's important to us that we perform everything live." They have been rehearsing, writing and working for six months. "The actors put together their own texts and ideas, which are then polished and rehearsed." The production is directed by Bernd Hensel and Michael Gabernig.
