Uncle with swastika tattoo hides niece (11)

A tip-off led the emergency services to the apartment of the uncle of a missing 11-year-old girl in Vienna-Döbling on Sunday evening. The girl could only be found during a search. The man then reacted very aggressively and threatened to kill the police officers.

Once again, the 11-year-old girl - who is in the care of the youth welfare office - had not returned to her group home on Sunday evening. So the police were alerted to track down the minor. A tip-off led the officers to an apartment in Döbling, to the girl's uncle. According to reports, the 30-year-old repeatedly gave her shelter.

Uncle offered to search himself
When Viennese police officers visited the missing 11-year-old's uncle's apartment, the 30-year-old initially claimed not to know her whereabouts. He offered a search, but became increasingly aggressive and insulted the officers several times.

Threatened police officers with death
When they finally found the girl hiding in a bed drawer, the uncle clenched his fists and threatened to kill the officers. He was then asked several times to stop his behavior, but to no avail. The police then ordered his arrest.

In his interrogation, the uncle of the deceased stated that his niece had repeatedly left her shared flat and that he only wanted to protect her.

However, the man resisted and punched and kicked the police officers, injuring two of them and forcing one of them to resign. The 30-year-old, who had a swastika tattooed on the right side of his neck, continued to rage in the holding cell and damaged the equipment there. The girl has since been handed over to her legal guardians.

The 30-year-old received several charges - including child abduction, resisting the police, multiple grievous bodily harm and damage to property.
