Aggressive parents injured police officers at school

Wild scenes unfolded at a secondary school in St. Pölten: When picking up their fallen child, the parents - who are from Syria - went completely berserk, insulted teachers and even injured two police officers. Now proceedings have been initiated to revoke their protection status.

Two extremely aggressive parents (38, 36) caused a major police operation in St. Pölten on Thursday morning. They had gone to the new secondary school to pick up their daughter, who had fallen and slightly injured herself through her own fault.

Head teacher called the police
However, the father and mother probably blamed the teachers for the mishap. The two shouted loudly and insulted several teachers. Because they also appeared very threatening, the principal called the police.

They arrived just as the parents were about to leave the school. At the sight of the officers, the Syrian couple immediately flew into a rage again. The 38-year-old approached the uniformed officers, gesticulating wildly and shouting loudly. He put up massive resistance during the necessary temporary arrest, which resulted in pepper spray being used. The 36-year-old also repeatedly tried to push the police officers away.

Stopping room damaged
Two police officers were injured during the arrest. The man also damaged the detention room in the police detention center. He was released from custody after being questioned. The woman took the child to the university hospital to have her daughter's injuries checked out.

We do not accept this kind of behavior here in Lower Austria. Anyone who is unable to do so must suffer severe consequences.

Both will be reported to the public prosecutor's office in St. Pölten once the investigation has been completed. The Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum has initiated revocation proceedings with regard to protection status, it was also reported. A criminal conviction is a prerequisite for revocation, it was reported.

"I expect parents and pupils, regardless of their origin, to behave decently in our schools and towards our teachers," said Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner following the incident on Thursday. 

Governorcalls on the federal government to take action
For the head of the province, tougher penalties for those unwilling to integrate must be at the top of the future federal government's list of duties. "I have repeatedly called for a fine of 2,500 euros to be appropriate. And welfare recipients who are unable to pay these fines must have their benefits cut until they understand how we treat each other here in Lower Austria," continued Mikl-Leitner.
