The series of ATM blasts has now also reached Tyrol: on Tuesday night, an ATM was blown up in the municipality of Haiming (Imst district). A major police manhunt was unsuccessful - the perpetrators were able to go into hiding. Is there a connection with the blasts in eastern Austria?

At exactly 2.49 a.m., the ATM on the outside facade of a supermarket in the Ötztal-Bahnhof district of Haiming blew up. "It is still unclear what explosives were used. It remained an attempt. According to the current state of the investigation, the perpetrators were unable to steal any cash," chief investigator Katja Tersch from the LKA Tirol told the "Krone" newspaper.

The manhunt was unsuccessful
The criminals were able to go into hiding after the coup. "The police immediately launched an extensive manhunt. However, there are currently no leads on the perpetrators," Tersch continued. It is also still completely unclear how many perpetrators were involved in the blast.

The forensics team was on site until late this morning. The task now is to evaluate the evidence.

Whether there is a connection with recent ATM blasts in eastern Austria can only be speculated at this stage. "Everything is still open at the moment," says Tersch.

In recent weeks, there have been several attacks on ATMs in the east of the country - for example in Vienna and Upper Austria. In the federal capital, the first financial institutions have already restricted the availability of cash withdrawals.
