Platform: Citizens’ suggestions for the whole of Innsbruck

Numerous ideas and suggestions have already been submitted via the City of Innsbruck's new participation platform. Some of them have already been implemented. The commitment of the citizens also pleases those responsible.

The City of Innsbruck's new participation platform - mitgestalten.innsbruck.gv.at - has obviously been well received by the population: around 1700 Innsbruck residents have registered since 16 January and 172 suggestions for the city have already been submitted - including ideas for greening city squares, public transport or concrete improvements in the city districts, such as public toilets, speed limits or new meeting spaces.

Six winners have now been drawn from the first 50 submissions and can look forward to vouchers for the IKB swimming pools and an IVB-Klimaticket Innsbruck.

"With our participation platform, we directly pick up the many people who want to contribute their ideas - and the success proves us right: since the launch, we have recorded around 1,700 registered users," says a delighted Thomas Zajc, head of the department.

If a proposal reaches the required quorum, it is forwarded by the Citizen Participation and Participatory Urban Design Department to the relevant municipal departments and examined for implementation. Since the platform was launched, 30 proposals have achieved the necessary votes.
