Peeping Tom hid two cameras in ladies’ toilet

A 43-year-old man hid two cameras in a ladies' toilet at the Feldkirchen bathing lakes. A cleaning lady made the terrible discovery and held the peeping Tom until the police arrived. Because more footage of minors was found in his possession, the trial was adjourned.

The bathing season was long over when a scene straight out of a bad movie took place at the Feldkirchen bathing lakes on November 20 of the previous year. A cleaner was cleaning one of the ladies' toilets when she noticed strange holes in the flush and the waste garbage can for hygiene products.

Wanted to escape with evidence
When she opened them, she couldn't believe her eyes: someone had placed two cameras there. She immediately left the toilet to call the police. Suddenly she saw a man approaching the toilet facility. The courageous cleaner approached the otherwise quiet restroom - and arrived just in time as a 43-year-old was about to make off with the two pieces of evidence.

Also child pornographic material
Because she held him until the police arrived, the peeping Tom would have had to answer for the offence of unauthorized image recording at the Wels Regional Court on Monday. According to the indictment, child pornographic material was also found on his smartphone and several memory cards, which he is said to have obtained from the darknet. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison.

No verdict on Monday
Originally, the accused would have appeared at the trial without a defense lawyer. Because the analysis of the images found on his person revealed more depictions of minors than initially thought, the sentence was extended from 0 to three years to six months to five years. As legal counsel is mandatory for such a sentence, the trial was postponed to an unspecified date for the time being.
