Fell three meters out of a window: rescue from the roof

Because an elderly man had fallen out of a window, the Fohnsdorf fire department had to be called out to rescue him from a flat roof.

The emergency call was received in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The man had landed on a flat roof three meters below after falling from the window. He was injured to an undetermined degree.

The emergency doctor provided first aid, after which the helpers from the volunteer fire department placed the man on a basket stretcher. The fall victim was lifted "quickly and safely" from the roof using a telescopic handler, as the fire department reported on Facebook. They were on site with five vehicles alongside the Red Cross, emergency doctor and police.

Meanwhile, the firefighters in Seckau had to respond to a burning excavator. At around 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the vehicle parked in a hut caught fire and a few minutes later the helpers from Seckau, Kobenz, Bischoffeld and Knittelfeld were on the scene together with the Red Cross and police.

The fire departments were in action for hours.

The fully engulfed excavator was extinguished using heavy breathing apparatus. It took around an hour to get the fire under control. It was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent outbuildings thanks to the efforts of a total of 70 helpers.
